A little over a year ago, my son Adam was working out like a madman and obsessing about “eating right” — but he was 15 years old and downright scrawny. Both my wife and I were pretty worried that he really wasn’t eating right, and even though he had read every scrap of nutrition advice he could find on the internet, he was just not taking in enough calories to support his growth and his exercise.
So, having been part of the amazing TNT Fitness program for years, I inquired to see if TNT Nutrition could help Adam. Most adults are trying to lose weight — and almost every bit of easily available nutrition advice is geared towards that goal. I was asking for something rare… I had a teenager who was keen on setting a super-healthy foundation for himself in both fitness and nutrition…. and didn’t know how to go about it.
TNT Nutrition responded “absolutely!” and assigned TNT Nutrition coach Jenn Haas to work with Adam. Jenn quickly figured out that Adam was taking in around 2000 calories a day when he really needed closer to 5000 to keep up with his “Insanity” workouts and his growth! Most teenagers can easily take in that amount of calories with junk food like bacon double cheeseburgers–but Adam was determined to eat only the most healthy foods, and it turns out that is quite a challenge.
Every week Jenn increased Adam’s calorie intake by 500-1000 using small tweaks in his diet. And he gradually learned how to take in 5000 calories a day — while still eating healthy and nutritious foods. You could see the results immediately. He had more energy. He filled out. He was more enthusiastic during his workouts and all day long. From a parent’s point of view, it was quite a relief, and pretty incredible, to watch his transformation.
Over a few months, he began to rely upon Jenn for more than just nutrition advice. She helped him navigate his workouts, our (lack of) family eating routines, and even guided him on how to bulk up his muscles so he could look like a superstar in his high school production of the musical “Xanadu”. Take a look at the photo and see for yourself.
I cannot say enough good things about TNT Nutrition. It is a well-designed, and very flexible and personalized, program that takes into account your mind as well as your body. I’m sure it will come as no surprise that I’m thinking pretty hard about working with them to help take off those last 10 pounds myself.
Thank you thank you Jenn and TNT Nutrition!
